SEO is important whether you’re a seasoned ecommerce veteran or just starting to sell online. Optimizing your site will be a continuous process, as search engines are constantly surveying the internet to index and rank pages. Any discrepancies might cause Google to NOT show your business' information on a search result page. The page title and URL are two of only a small number of elements that are present for a user to view within the search engine results page. It’s fair to say that they have a huge impact on click-through rate from the SERPs. SEO practitioners, before deploying any given tactic, will ask first, “Will this increase my rank in the SERPs?” And if the answer appears to be yes, then the tactic is executed. Paid
links are links garnered in exchange
for payment. They can come from a
network of link buyers and sellers, and
a network usually consists of a group of
low-quality sites that collectively link to a
specific website in an effort to increase
it’s authority in SERPs. Other times, there
may be a reciprocal linking program, where a group of websites link to
You should care about meta descriptions
Just typing in an incomplete search term will result in a whole lot of unnecessary results which might not be what you are looking for. Keyword research can be time-consuming, but rewarding when done properly. Despite countless claims over the years that have proclaimed the death of link building it is still very much alive and kicking. Not only is it still alive but it remains one of the most important ranking factors and is in the top two factors in Google’s ranking algorithm. Over the years there have been many dubious link building practices such as link farming, buying links, comment linking on blogs and many other low effort practices. One of the recommendations I frequently give as an SEO consultant is to optimize your images. A lot of websites have images that are relatively large, which take a lot of time to load. Resizing your images can speed up the loading time. Google has been focused on semantic search and now uses something called Latent-Semantic Indexing (LSI) in its core Hummingbird engine.
Quality over Quantity
One of the most common misconceptions is that blogging on your own site is going to help your SEO. There is no single place to focus when trying to optimize a website for search engines, so it is important to make updates and upgrades to various parts of a website at regular intervals, not spending too much time or effort on any particular aspect of the website while other features get ignored or underserved. Mobile traffic is important. People are searching and reading on their mobile devices more than ever. What does that mean for your copy? Do you need to write differently if you’re aiming at a ‘mobile’ audience? How do you tackle copywriting for mobile? You can read an offsite SEO beginners guide here. The SEO of your website is largely dependent upon how easily and quickly your potential customers can find your site through a search engine query. In a Searchmetrics 2016 study into ranking factors, there was an “extremely high” correlation between social signals and Google rankings. However, this couldn’t be accredited to the algorithm, but rather to the “overlap between brand websites performing strongly in social networks and being allocated top positions by Google.”
Describe in just a few words what a page or document is about
Gaz Hall, from SEO Hull, had the following to say: "Search Engines are not humans. They do not read your content; they just evaluate it, based on text, language analysis and other factors. If you use the right mixture of keywords, link juice and backlink strategies, you will manage to get a good rank on SERPs. Content is a powerful marketing tool. " Are you worried that your aesthetically appealing website is not getting you the right amount of traffic? Does it bother you that all the money you spent on developing a very creative website is going waste. Is your online business so vast that you are having trouble maintaining your site and the beautifully designed structures have all gone haywire as your business developed? Target 500 to 1,000 words per post without sounding spammy or repetitive. Trust me — 500 words is not difficult when you know your business inside and out. I am already at 1,500 words for this post (unless my editor breaks out a Ginsu knife). Also, publish frequently. Try one post per week until you get the hang of writing and blogging. Then bump that up to twice per week. In the current fast paced world, more and more people depend upon the internet and mobile applications for getting their day to day chores done efficiently. As you’ve probably identified at this point, SEO is incredibly
detailed. But, it doesn’t need to be complicated. As search
engines like Google continually improve and try to show
the best results they can to users, their focus is to provide
quality and relevant results.
What reaction do you get from a prospect?
Make sure that your website is structured in a way that is friendly to search engines. If it’s tough for a search engine to crawl your site and index everything properly, you won’t get the SEO love that you deserve. Once visitors are on your site, an important goal is to keep them on your site. You don’t want your visitors immediately bouncing back to Google once they have read something on your site. It takes time for Google to recognize your website and assign it the authority it deserves. It takes time for it to see that changes have been made, compare the quality of your website and your content to everyone else in the same space. If you don’t know who your competition is, search for some of your most important keyword targets – sites that consistently rank well are the ones to take a look at. As long as you’re playing by the rules, there’s no significant danger that you'll earn a penalty or damage your reputation in the process.
You need more diversity on your pages
Variables make it possible to automate certain processes on your site. They also make it easy to change large batches of meta descriptions for instance, since you only have to change the structure of the variable – the site fills in the data automatically. Internal page linking is an important part of on page SEO. These can be interpreted as binding your website together. In addition to the actual text on your web
pages, search engines also examine their structure,
the use of keywords in your URLs, the formatting of
the page (such as the use of bold font), and which
keywords appear in the title and in the body of the
text. Today, queries don’t just return a list of ten blue, ordered links. They return
results with images, videos, profile pictures, and all manner of meta data
that help searchers choose the best result. A site that hasn’t done its keyword research is like a car driving in the dark down between two points. Keyword research is a constant and has been and still is a cornerstone of SEO. Do it before you do anything else!
